THE BOOKSTAGRAM COMMUNITY
I DON'T LIVE IN A COUNTRY THAT HAS A CULTURE IN ASKING,"WHAT BOOK ARE YOU READING NOW?"
Honestly it sadden me that I cannot ask such question or be ask of "what is your current reading?" I feel like there are so many books you haven't read in this whole world and you won't have the time to read it all. And I wonder why the numbers of book readers in my country is very small.
Looking back to the education system that we have, we were told to memorize, not to analyze. So when we are reading to memorize, there is no fun in doing that. But when you try to analyze something, you will find yourself in a never ending curiosity.
I always interested in books. For me, a book is a brain of someone. Someone who has so many thoughts on their mind, so many stories to tell, fiction or not, reality or fantasy, biography or autobiography. It's someone's brain! How come you're not fascinated by that?
Meeting your next read is always a thrilling moment. You just never know what you will get yourself into. And the missing thing is, if you live in my country, it's difficult to find someone who you can discuss it with!
Luckily, the social media growing in the right direction. Instagram now full of people who call themselves the bookstagram community. Well, I'm one of them and I'm meeting so many new friends where I can discuss about books. Any kind of books, and at anytime! It's amazing to see almost daily update on what other people is reading and their reviews about the books. It's lovely to have buddy read at the same time from friends all over the world and discuss the book after.
I found some friends who are also Indonesian. And I'm very happy knowing that readers actually exist in my country. There are still people like me who loves to read, who loves to share what is the excitement about reading. Maybe for some people it's useless, but I use it as a campaign. If I can read that much, maybe, just maybe, I can inspire anyone to read more.
And when you meet me, instead of asking me what is your religion, I'd love to be ask,"What is your current reading?"
